Default HP projector image issue........

I have an HP projector i got from a friend. When i hook everything up, the image displayed is half dark (like a shadow on the half the display). I probably know the answer to my own question, but wanted verification just so i know. It's the bulb going bad right??? I hope not as this particular model has a replacement price of right around $500 per bulb. Ive never seen one go "half bad" before...Which is why i am posing this question. Thanks for taking the time to set my mind at ease.

This is definitely a bulb issue. $500 per bulb is pretty much. Visit this site "Projector Lamps World" - all lamps are under $300. When you changed the bulb you will definitely see a big difference in picture quality.
