Default V10 Settings

I currently have a V10 and overall it's a very nice set. The only issues I have though is the picture is dark (cnet settings used) during the daytime. I adjust the panel brightness from low to medium to compensate. But I'd love to hear what your review is and the settings you use during the day. Yes I understand everyone's daytime ambient light may be different, but not sure which settings on the TV to adjust.

I would use the Standard setting during the day and switch to Custom or THX for evening viewing. The only setting to avoid (unless you live on the sun) is "Vivid" which is excessively bright, washing out all of the color details.

Hope that helps.

Hi Chris, Could you expand a little insofar as contrast/brightnes/color etc.

Thanks
Don

PS After a call to Panasonic, I was told to set the picture orbiter to manual/2 minutes.

Nope. Sorry but I really have only played around with this set superficially so far as I need to finish a Samsung LED/LCD TV review first and I'm just back from a week's vacation. Hope to get to the Panasonic set next week.

Thanks, that helped. My only problem with the V10 is the accuracy of colors. They are not completely off, but not as accurate as I would prefer. Will you also review the Pioneer 500M?

Daylightdon - My suggestion would be to get a Pioneer 500M. I say that without seeing the set personally, but base it off other forums. I believe they don't have speakers though.

Daytime settings which I like (CNET settings plus):

AGC = On
Panel Brightness = Mid

Let me know what you think, but keep in mind I am not expert by any means.

Um... in the CNET review?

Panasonic TC-P50V10 Flat-panel TV reviews - CNET Reviews

Toward the middle/bottom of the article there is a TV image on the left that says "click to see picture settings" - I actually haven't read their review yet. I like to form my own opinions. But I scanned it for you to find where their settings are.

What is the difference between adjusting the panel brightness from "low" to "mid" Versus gamma from "mid" to "full 1"?

When I adjust gamma the picture appears to be brighter and can't decipher which I like more (again using the cnet settings). I'm just trying to understand the difference of the effect of gamma VS panel brightness for the V10.
