Chris, Have you reviewed any 32" LCD's?
A lady in my church wants me to shop for her and install it.
What would be your recommendation?

I haven't reviewed any LCDs of that size but I'm thinking about getting some of my writers involved in the smaller screen sizes like this moving forward. I personally reviewed a VIZIO 32-inch plasma and really liked it for the money - about $425-$450 at places like WalMart and Costco. But VIZIO did announce they're getting out of the plasma business so it might be hard to find these days.
Here's the review:

By the way, if you can convince her to go a little larger, Amazon has a great deal right now on Samsung's A550 series (1080p) and A650 series (1080p 120 Hz) LCD HDTVs. The 40-incher is only $879, the 46-inch $1499 and the 52-inch $1899:
- Amazon.com: Samsung LN52A650 52-Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV with Red Touch of Color
- Amazon.com: Samsung LN46A650 46-Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV with RED Touch of Color
- Amazon.com: Samsung LN40A550 40-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV

Hi Chris, No one has one of those new.
It's for a bedroom and 32" is it.
I won't say "Price is no object" but she wants quality with zero problems. She can afford a nice one.
What are you thoughts on the Sonys and Sharps with built in DVD and Blu-ray players?

If you want quality and zero problems then I would definitely shy away from any of the combo LCD/DVD or LCD/Blu-ray combos. Too many moving parts. I know it seems simpler at first, but the player piece inevitably breaks down before the TV and then you're left with a half-working/half-broken zombie component that is neither fully living nor fully dead.
For mid-priced LCD, I like Samsung, Panasonic and Sony. Here are a few that would be pretty high on my list. Of these models, I'd say the Samsung A550 will give you the highest overall performance, but the Panasonic is also very good and they're probably best known for their customer service. The Panny is not 1080p but at this size, 1080p is probably overkill. The Sony is a brand new model that looks promising:
- Samsung LN32A550 1080p LCD TV (clearance) - Vanns.com - $779
- Amazon.com: Panasonic VIERA X1 Series TC-L32X1 32-Inch 720p LCD HDTV: $649.95 - I wouldn't bother with a marketplace seller, get it from Amazon.com as a seller (link is on the right side of the page)
- Sony KDL-32S5100 1080p LCD TV - In Stock at OneCall.com - $747.98
All of the above are authorized dealers with good deals on great TVs.
I will contact the lady tomorrow and purchase the one she selects from that list.
Thank you Chris.![]()
Placed the order at One Call, for the Sony.![]()
