    connection options and home theater/receiver/switcher

    Hi All,

Here is my situation / question. I currently have two components to hook-up to my 52” LCD TV. My Cox cable DVR box (currently component video and separate sound to TV), and Computer (DVI to HDMI cable and separate sound to TV). I intend to place all the components on a rack in a closet about 35’ away. I would like to purchase a home theater / receiver / switcher (with HD radio and internet/ipod streaming) which I could have the components wired/ran into and come out of the receiver with a single HDMI to the TV.

Is this possible? Do you have any you would recommend (cost - low to mid range)?

    Thanks in advance,
    MarshGator

    Readily Available

Many AVR receivers will do what you want, but how will you control the receiver if it is 35 feet away in a closet and it is impractical to get an HDMI cable that is 35 feet long?

Home theater/receiver/switcher (with HD radio and internet/ipod streaming) systems

    Thanks for the reply.

Can anyone recommend a few home theater/receiver/switcher (with HD radio and internet/ipod streaming) systems which I could have the components wired/ran into and come out of the receiver with a single HDMI to the TV(cost - low to mid range)? I really don’t know anything about these.

For control of the components, I intend to use a wired IR receiver repeater kit. This would allow one to control the cable box, and receiver from the viewing room while the cable box, and receiver are in another. The computer keyboard and mouse are no problem as they are both wireless Bluetooth.

The cable length I require is just under 35’ (the straight line distance between the closet and TV is really about 20’). From what I read a good 35’ HDMI cable should have no problems with this length.

Let me know what you think and thanks in advance,
    MarshGator
