Yabazam App Brings More Native 3D Content to Samsung Smart TVs

By Rachel Cericola

Samsung 3D TV owners will now be able to enjoy a new little treat -- a 3D-enhanced one. A company by the name of DDD Group has just announced availability of the Yabazam 3D movie app for Samsung's 3D-capable Smart TVs.

The free download will allow users to stream 3D movie trailers and "a growing collection" of 3D movies from the website Yabazam.com. According to 3D solutions company DDD Group, full-length 3D movie downloads will be available on a pay-per-view basis sometime later this month.

Both the Yabazam 3D app and its 3D content portal, Yabazam.com, promise a library of high-quality 3D content. We took a quick peek at the website and found movie prices ranging from $1.99 to $9.99. Don't expect to find A-listers and blockbusters, though. The company has some pretty unique content that probably can't be found anywhere else. One of the company's latest additions is UYUYUI!, which won awards at 3D film festivals in Belgium, Tokyo and Los Angeles. Other popular titles include the Safety Geeks SVI series, The Curse of Skull Rock and Rio de Janeiro Carnival.

Launched in 2009, Yabazam claims to be the first online portable to offer high-def 3D movies. DDD says that by offering the content to Samsung TV users, they hope to have Yabazam's content reach a wider audience.

"Samsung leads the market in 3DTVs and we welcome the opportunity to provide their viewers with compelling 3D content," said Chris Yewdall, CEO of DDD. "Yabazam is proving to be a popular Smart TV app in these early days of 3DTV adoption, as it greatly increases the availability of 3D content in the home."

There's no word on whether or not Yabazam will be restricted to newer Samsung 3D TVs or not. For now, the company says that the service is available as a free download on Samsung 3D-capable HDTVs through the Smart TV portal.
