VIZIO D-Series 4K Ultra HD TVs Start Under $420

By Rachel Cericola

VIZIO has made a name on delivering good TVs at budget prices. Now the company is at it again with the D-Series, a new collection of smart TVs.

The D-Series features a total of 12 TVs, ranging from $139.99 to $899.99. That price range covers screen sizes from 24 to 65 inches. All 12 of those sets include smart TV features, but four of them are also 4K Ultra HD models.

All of the smart TV perks are part of the VIZIO Internet Apps Plus platform, which can put Netflix, iHeartRadio, Xumo, and plenty of other popular apps right on your TV. (Just know that subscriptions and/or fees may apply.)

The entire 2017 D-Series lineup includes full-array LED backlighting with up to 12 Active LED Zones. (The exception is the 24-incher, which is edge-lit.) This picture technology promises brighter whites and deeper black levels. Other image features in the lineup include Clear Action 180 with a 120Hz effective refresh rate.

All four of the 4K TV models have the latest HDMI standards, in order to support 4K playback from Ultra HD Blu-ray players, gaming consoles, and next-generation cable and satellite receivers. Each of these sets also includes a built-in V8 octa-core processor, HEVC decoding, and 802.11ac dual-band Wi-Fi.

"The all-new 2017 D-Series collection is incredibly versatile, giving consumers great picture quality collection-wide, as well as an affordable entry point to 4K Ultra HD," said Matt McRae, VIZIO's chief technology officer. "With an ever-expanding selection of 4K movies and shows available to consumers, the VIZIO Internet Apps Plus smart TV platform makes streaming 4K Ultra HD entertainment a simple experience for D-Series users."

VIZIO will start selling the D-Series very soon. The edge-lit model is the 24-inch D24h-E1 LED Smart TV ($139.99). The seven full-array LED smart TVs include the 32-inch D32f-E1 ($199.99), the 39-inch D39f-E1 ($299.99), the 40-inch D40-E1 ($319.99), the 43-inch D43f-E1 ($349.99), the 48-inch D48f-E0 ($399.99), the 50-inch D50f-E1 ($419.99), and the 55-inch D55f-E0 ($479.99).

The four 4K Ultra full-array LED smart TVs include the 43-inch D43-E2 ($419.99), the 50-inch D50-E1 ($499.99), the 55-inch D55-E0 ($569.99), and the 65-inch D65-E0 ($899.99).
