VIZIO Adds More LED Zones to 2014 M-Series HDTV Lineup

By Rachel Cericola

If you're looking to buy a new TV, you don't have to go for 4K Ultra HD TV. Yes, 4K seems to be dominating the news this year, but there are plenty of other new HDTVs to be had -- and that's just from VIZIO!

The company just announced its new 2014 M-Series Full-Array LED backlit LCD HDTV collection, which will include a total of nine models. Besides Full-Array LED backlighting, VIZIO is pumping up the line with up to 36 Active LED zones (depending on the model). That's more than double the amount over last year. The end result delivers an awesome picture, a more evenly lit picture, and better light uniformity. Those additional zones also boast a higher contrast and the ability to quickly adjust the image on-screen for better black levels and overall detail.

Available in screen sizes ranging from 32 to 80 inches, each M-Series model has a full 1080p HD image and built-in Wi-Fi for easy access to VIZIO Internet Apps Plus, the company's smart TV platform. Right out of the box, this web-based option delivers instant on-screen access to Netflix, Hulu Plus, iHeartRadio, VUDU, YouTube and Spotify, which is new for the year. It also allows for second screen interactive features between your smartphone and/or tablet and the TV. That basically means that you can stream content from your portable to the TV, without missing a beat. Currently, this feature is supported by Netflix and YouTube.

Other features across the new lineup include Active Pixel Tuning to help boost the detail, Clear Action Rate 7202 with a 240Hz Effective Refresh Rate, and a new ultra-slim (0.3-inch) frame design. Each TV also ships with a smart remote, which has a backlit QWERTY keyboard.

"The VIZIO M-Series collection represents a significant milestone in picture quality for mainstream consumers," said Matt McRae, VIZIO's chief technology officer. "We crafted a best-in-class experience by increasing brightness, doubling the number of Active LED Zones and boosting the Clear Action performance. All this is coupled with our VIZIO Internet Apps Plus platform for endless entertainment options."

VIZIO is shipping the entire 2014 M-Series lineup now. The new lineup includes the 32-inch M322i-B1 ($329.99), the 42-inch M422i-B1 ($529.99), the 49-inch M492i-B2 ($699.99), the 50-inch M502i-B1 ($699.99), the 55-inch M552i-B2 ($899.99), the 60-inch M602i-B3 ($1249.99), the 65-inch M652i-B2 ($1499.99), the 70-inch M702i-B3 ($1899.99), and the 80-inch M801i-A3 ($3199.99).
