The charismatic combination of Matt Damon and Franka Potente and the promising (but underwhelming) direction of Doug Liman don't save this Robert Ludlum adaptation from feeling like a retread of countless other spy genre efforts. The meandering and sloppy finale only makes it even more ironically forgettable.
