$125 Off Kindle Fire HDX 8.9-inch Today Only

By Deal Meister

Tablets are among the most popular holiday gifts this year and Amazon offers some pretty interesting tablet options. Whether you're interested in watching movies, listening to music, playing games or reading books, the Kindle Fire HDX is an excellent choice for all of the above. And today only, Amazon is dropping the price on the 8.9-inch Kindle Fire HDX by a whopping $125.  That's just $224 for the WiFi version with special offers (4G LTE version also available with the same $125 discount).  Here's the link:

This is an Android-based tablet so it can load many of the most popular Android-based games and apps, which are available in Amazon's app store for Android. But it's first and foremost an Amazon Kindle which means it's really well-suited for streaming free videos via Amazon Prime, accessing your Amazon digital music collection and reading Kindle books. For voracious readers, Amazon recently started offering "Kindle Unlimited." This service gives you access to any of thousands of books on Amazon, up to 10 at a time. It's like carrying your own public library around with you wherever you go (except it's private).

Also, members of Amazon Prime not only get unlimited 2-day shipping on virtually everything Amazon sells, but also free streaming access to thousands of videos (movies and TV) as well as thousands of songs and albums. It's a lot like Netflix, but without any additional monthly fee (with Prime membership) and with music added as a bonus. You can also run the standard Netflix app on the Kindle Fire HDX, if that's the way you roll. And Pandora for music, as well as thousands of other Android apps.

Kindle Fire HDX 8.9
Portrait or landscape, the high resolution screen of the Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 tablet makes watching movie, reading book or playing games on the go an enjoyable experience.

In terms of specs, the Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 includes a super high resolution screen (2560x1600 pixels), 16 GB of on-board storage and a powerful 2.2GHz quad-core processor.  But it only weighs 13.2oz, (34% lighter than the previous generation). The 8MP rear-facing camera has an LED flash for low light use, and there's also a front-facing HD camera for Skype video calls or video selfies.

In addition to the Wifi-only version, there's also a 4G LTE version for about $100 more.
