It's Halloween time again and Disguise, Inc. (a division Jakks Pacific) has rolled out their latest batch of costumes, officially licensed iterations of characters from the latest Hollywood blockbusters. Dressing up like a superhero can be one of life's great thrills, and these selections make it easy.
The Sentinel of Liberty decked out in his stars and stripes is bound to make something of a political statement as well as an expression of personal style. Disguise's Captain America Movie Adult Prestige (Item # 28679) presents the distinctive re-imagining of the iconic look, enhanced with faux functionality in the added harness, its detailed (nylon?) straps actually attached as a separated element and not merely printed on. The zipper-backed polyester jumpsuit with attached boot tops is finished with a rubbery textured pattern across the chest to simulate Cap's chain mail tunic.
A separate utility belt with removable molded buckle and working pouches (for storing the really good candy) is provided, although it is not sized quite as generously as the rest of the outfit. A coordinated blue hood with chinstrap is also included, with alternate headgear also sold by Disguise. Velcro fasteners help keep all of the doodads in place. No shield is provided in the Prestige bundle, so you will need to purchase one separately 'cause the outfit just ain't complete without it. Optional movie-style red gloves with simulated buckles are available as well.
The standard size is a Men's XL 42-46, but since World War II was fought while the United States was still expanding, the Captain America costume can also be had in an XXL size (50-52).

Cap's fellow Avenger Thor also made quite an impact (hammer? "impact"? anyone?) with viewers in his big-screen debut this year, and now mere mortals can assume the identity of the Norse Thunder God with the Thor Movie Prestige Adult Costume (Item #26647). It captures a bit of the majesty we would imagine for the garb of the heir to the Asgardian throne, marked by the six familiar sculpted discs down the front of the polyester jumpsuit with a detachable red cape. The fashionable winged helmet arrives in three semi-rigid pieces and assembles easily.
Thor's hammer, "Mjolnir," is sold separately, but is an absolute must-add. The Prestige costume with helmet is available in both XL and, should you be planning to knock back a few meads during your holiday festivities, XXL too.

And although I've never seen it up close, by its description the Optimus Prime "Theatrical" Costume (Item #28526) sounds like it could be one of the finest costumes that Disguise has ever produced, a printed jumpsuit paired with a helmet featuring light-up eyes, in addition to elaborately vacuform-molded chest and cod pieces and left and right gauntlets. A large edge weapon arrives attached to the right gauntlet, so there are actually no extra accessories to buy.
The generous, ornate detailing appears to achieve a convincing illusion, a balance between a living robot and a guy in a suit. (XL only.)
