Chewie, we're home...

Well, not yet, but they're coming. Disney has announced plans to release Star Wars: The Force Awakens on Blu-ray on April 5, 2016.

Of course, the seventh installment in the Star Wars franchise is still raking in money at the box office. Since its December release, the film has made over $2 billion worldwide, making it the third highest grossing film of all time -- and it's closing in on the two top spots, which are held by Titanic and Avatar.

However, if you've already seen it in theaters once, twice, or even a 10th time, you can start making plans to bring Star Wars: The Force Awakens home.

You'll want to do that, too. Not much is known about the audio options that will come with this set, even though the film was released theatrically in Dolby Atmos. However, we do know it will come with a "galaxy" of other goodies.

The bonus features will include "Secrets of The Force Awakens: A Cinematic Journey," a documentary with interviews, footage from the movie, and behind-the-scenes peeks. The Blu-ray Combo Pack will also include "The Story Awakens: The Table Read" and several deleted scenes. Droids and other creatures will be highlighted in two shorts, "Building BB-8" and "Crafting Creatures." Legendary composer John Williams can be found talking up his work with the franchise in "John Williams: The Seventh Symphony." Of course, there will be plenty on the special effects as well, in "Blueprint of a Battle: The Snow Fight" and "ILM: The Visual Magic of The Force." And finally, the disc will include "Force For Change," a short on the Star Wars: Force for Change initiative.

There won't be a 3D version of the Blu-ray on April 5. ("That's not how the Force works!") However, Disney says there will be a separate release coming later this year. If you need to own multiple versions now, know that the studio is also planning four retailer exclusives. The Target version will come with exclusive packaging and 20 minutes of bonus content, which includes interviews with Daisy Ridley and John Boyega, as well as an in-depth peek at the film's costumes and weaponry. The Walmart edition will feature packaging with BB-8 on the front and an exclusive Star Wars Galactic Connexions trading disc. Also, Best Buy will have SteelBook packaging, while the Disney Store will be selling a version with an exclusive lithograph set.

Given its popularity, it's hard to imagine that this title won't sell out. However, you can secure a copy now on Amazon. (See the link below.)

Star Wars: The Force Awakens features the re-teaming of Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, and Peter Mayhew. The seventh installment of the Star Wars franchise also stars Daisy Ridley as all-around bad-ass Rey, John Boyega as reluctant stormtrooper Finn, Adam Driver as villain-you-love-to-hate Kylo Ren, and Oscar Isaac as Resistance pilot Poe.
