SoundCloud is the Latest Music Option Streaming to HEOS by Denon

By Rachel Cericola

Well, it looks like Denon Electronics is really looking to battle Sonos with its HEOS wireless multiroom sound system. The company keeps adding new streaming music services, making it an interesting alternative to its top wireless competitor.

Denon just announced that the latest addition will be SoundCloud, the "social sound platform." That basically means that you'll have all sorts of audio options to stream---thanks to your fellow SoundCloud users.

The service currently offers music, podcasts, comedy, news and other snippets, all of which are uploaded to SoundCloud by other SoundCloud users. Recently, SoundCloud came out with data stating that those users are uploading 12 hours of music and other audio clips every minute. In other words, the library is a work in progress and growing every single day.

Also worth noting is that once something is loaded to SoundCloud, you have options to share the file privately or publicly via blogs and websites, as well as though Twitter, Tumblr, Facebook and Foursquare.

SoundCloud is now available on all HEOS products via the HEOS app for iOS, Android and Kindle Fire devices.

"By partnering with SoundCloud, HEOS demonstrates its appreciation of and commitment to the entire world of audio, an environment that is virtually expanding and bringing incredibly talented artists and individuals into homes across the globe," said Brendon Stead, Denon's vice president of product development. "With over 175 million unique monthly users, SoundCloud is changing the way fans discover and enjoy music in the internet age, and that to us is incredibly exciting."

SoundCloud can be streamed to every and any HEOS by Denon product. Because each one has WiFi support, HEOS products can link together to put music in every room in the house. The HEOS lineup currently includes the HomeCinema wireless soundbar and subwoofer package ($799), the HEOS 1 ($199) and HEOS 1 Go Pack ($99), the HEOS 3 ($299), the HEOS 5 ($399), and the HEOS 7 ($599) wireless music players, as well as the HEOS Extend WiFi range extender ($99), the HEOS LINK ($349), the HEOS AMP ($499) and the HEOS Drive ($2,499).
