Sony Starts UX900X and X910X 4K Android TVs at $2499

Back in January at CES 2015, Sony Electronics was talking up several new 4K Ultra HD TVs for 2015. However, the pair that really caught our eye was the X900C and X910C---barely, though. That's because these two models are just so darn thin!

Well now the company wants you to take a closer look, in the comfort of your living room. Sony has announced prices and release dates for both the X900C and the X910C.

Each model packs that 4K picture into a super-thin package. The X900C measures a mere 0.2 inches thin, making it thinner than a smartphone. Sony hasn't published the thickness of the X910C (yet), but claims it to be "the thinnest TV of its size ever made." Having that thin profile makes it easy to mount flush to the wall, so you aren't distracted by the bezel and can remain completely focused on the picture.

That's not hard to do anyway, given the 4K image, which is four times the resolution of a full 1080p HDTV. Both models also have the X1 processor engine, which boasts better contrast, brighter colors, and awesome overall viewing, whether you're enjoying 4K or HD content. And for the times when you do watch HD, Sony's X-Reality Pro Picture Engine can upscale that to a near-4K quality. Rounding out the image perks is TRILUMINOS display technology, which the X900C and the X910C have for an expanded color palette.

Of course, each of these new TVs includes an endless amount of smart TV features, in the form of Android TV. Besides out-of-the-box options like Netflix, Amazon Instant Video, YouTube, Hulu, CBS News, CBS Sports, Crackle, NBA Game Time, Pandora and SlingTV, these models can tap into about 600 other apps, thanks to Google Play Store access right on the TV. If you don't find something you like right away, you can try voice search or use the Google Cast feature to "cast" something to the TV from your Android and iOS devices, Mac or Windows computers, or a Chromebook.

All of the gamers out there will also be happy to know that both of these sets include access to PlayStation Now, which can put PS3 games right on the TV---all without an actual console. Just pair the set with a DualShock 4 controller and start streaming.

Sony is taking pre-orders on the X900C, with plans to start shipping in July. The 55-inch XBR-55X900C has an MSRP of $2,499, with the 65-inch XBR-65X900C priced at $3,999. The 75-inch XBR-75X910C is expected to follow sometime this summer, with a $5,499 price tag.
