Sonos Adds Support for SoundCloud Streaming

By Rachel Cericola

It looks like Sonos really has no plans to stop adding streaming services to its growing list of partners. The company just announced global support for SoundCloud.

SoundCloud is a "social sound platform," which basically means that the service relies on all of its users to generate content. Once you're in, you'll find tons of music, podcasts, comedy, news and other snippets. SoundCloud says that the library is constantly expanding, with as much as 12 hours of music and audio being uploaded every minute.

Once you upload a little something to SoundCloud, there are options to share the content privately or publicly via blogs and websites, as well as though Twitter, Tumblr, Facebook and Foursquare.

SoundCloud can be accessed via iOS and Android apps. Of course, now users can also stream SoundCloud to any room in the house -- at least any room with a Sonos speaker. Just go to "Add Music Services" in the Sonos Controller app to add the service. From there, use the "Universal Search" feature to find artists and music.

"Nothing should stand between you and the music you love and want to discover," said the Sonos in a blog post. "And the closer we can connect you to all the music on earth, the more we deliver on our mission to create the best experience with music at home. Period."

A beta version of SoundCloud is currently available to Sonos customers worldwide.
