Samsung Speaker Dock for Apple and Android Devices Enhances Sound with Vacuum Tubes (DA-E750)

By Rachel Cericola

If you listen closely, you can hear audiophiles everywhere squealing with delight. Samsung just announced plans to release a multi-device audio dock with vacuum tube technology.

Vacuum tube amplifiers were previously a perk that only audiophiles enjoyed. However, the company is packing that little perk into the DA-E750 Audio Dock with Vacuum Tube Amplifier. This is the company's very first speaker dock -- and apparently, they know how to kick things off. Featuring Samsung's proprietary hybrid vacuum tube amplifier technology, the dock can deliver the sharpness of a digital amplifier with the warm, rich sound of vacuum tubes.

That audiophile-worthy performance is certainly key, but another nice perk here is that the dock doesn't play favorites. It's actually compatible with Galaxy S smartphones and Apple devices, such as the iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad.

The DA-E750 also has a 2.1-channel speaker and a built-in subwoofer with 100 watts of sound. Other features include AllShare and Bluetooth support, an analog (composite) input and a USB port, so you can hook up a thumb drive packed with MP3, WMA and/or WAV files.

Samsung also announced the DA-E670 Audio Dock for Galaxy S and Apple devices. This unit delivers the goods from multiple devices on a smaller scale, and without those vacuum tube effects. Boasting 40 watts of power and an integrated subwoofer, the DA-E670 is compact enough for use in the bedroom, kitchen and office. It can also charge up docked devices while each one is in use. The DA-E670 also has AllShare, an auxiliary input, support for Bluetooth-enabled devices, and a USB port for playing MP3, WMA, and/or WAV files from an external device.

"Listening to music, whether individually or in a group setting, is one of the most personal and valued forms of entertainment," said Sangchul Lee, Samsung's senior vice president. "As the leader in home entertainment, we wanted to create products that are unique, highly-functional and beautifully designed, yet offer the crystal clear, rich sound that consumers can enjoy, regardless of the portable device they store their music on."
