At CES 2016, we're already seeing a lot of new Ultra HD TVs planned for this year. So how do you know which ones will deliver the absolute best 4K image possible? Ask the UHD Alliance (UHDA).
The UHDA just announced plans to launch the Ultra HD Premium logo, which will appear on select consumer devices, content, and services that can deliver a "premium" Ultra HD experience. The certification program was a collaborative effort between leading film studios, consumer electronics manufacturers, content distributors, and technology companies.
So whenever you see that UHDA logo, know that these specific products and services "comply with performance metrics for resolution, high dynamic range (HDR), peak luminance, black levels and wide color gamut." The UHDA says that the organization's specs even cover audio performance and other features.
At CES 2016, several manufacturers are announcing TVs with UHD Premium Certification. Samsung Electronics says that its entire 2016 SUHD TV lineup has been awarded the UHD Premium Certification, with LG Electronics getting the goods for its 2016 OLED TV lineup. BPBS Editor Chris Boylan says that LG has also received certification for new LED/LCD TVs, while Panasonic has UHD Premium-certified LED/LCD TVs in the works as well.

It validates our ongoing efforts to deliver the most true-to-life UHD viewing experience, for as many people as possible," said Hyun Suk Kim, president of Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics. "We will continue our work with the UHDA to establish UHD picture quality standards and drive progress across the home entertainment industry."
