Samsung HT-E6730W Blu-ray 3D Home Theater System: 1330 Watts of Vacuum Tube Goodness

By Rachel Cericola

Back in January, Samsung sent the audiophile world into a tizzy by announcing that the company was planning to put vacuum tube technology into its HT-E6730W 7.1-Channel Blu-ray 3D Home Theater System. Samsung?

Yes, this is the same Samsung that we've come to know and love. Now, there seems to be a reason to love them even more -- 1330 reasons, actually. The HT-E6730W boasts 1330 watts of sound, as well as a Blu-ray 3D player and a full speaker complement.

The real hook, however, is the vacuum tube pre-amplifier, which is right there in all of its glory on the front and top of the system. Show it with pride! The speakers also have glass fiber cones to boost overall sound quality. Samsung's Crystal Amp Plus technology is doing its part as well, promising pure digital audio playback, all while protecting listeners from unexpected volume spikes.

Another part of the HT-E6730W package is a Blu-ray 3D player. This included component offers both 2D and 3D Blu-ray playback and promises to upconvert DVDs, streaming media and connected media, all to a full 1080p HD.

Besides all of the above tech goodies, the HT-E6730W comes packing the aforementioned speaker set. This includes two tower speakers and four smaller surrounds, as seen in the image above. The two tower speakers are embedded height channel speakers and can be turned upwards so the sound can vertically cascade down onto the listener. As an added bonus, two of the remaining four speakers are wireless, so those can go just about anywhere in the room, without additional cable clutter. Rounding out the speaker set is a dual-unit passive radiator subwoofer, to add a little bass to the whole audio experience.

Other features on the HT-E6730W include built-in WiFi, AllShare Play features, and Samsung's Smart Hub platform. That Smart Hub is a smart thing to have, delivering instant access to thousands of movies, TV shows, social networking and other apps, all right on the TV screen. (Some subscriptions and/or fees may apply, depending on the service.)

Last, but certainly not least, the HT-E6730W also has Samsung's new Disc to Digital streaming service. This newly announced feature promises to unlock your existing DVD and Blu-ray collection into the cloud for easy access from anywhere with a web connection. Our own Greg Robinson provided a more in-depth peek at this new feature. If you aren't quite ready for a 7.1 system, Samsung is packing the same features into the HT-E6500W Blu-ray 3D 5.1 Home Theater System. Instead of the tallboys, this 5.1 setup has two half-tall speakers and the two wireless models, with the vacuum-tube goodies and the promise of cranking 1000 watts of sound.

Samsung says that the HT-E6730W Blu-ray 3D 7.1 Home Theater System will start shipping this spring. The company has listed the MSRP at $999.99, with the HT-E6500W coming in at $200 less. However, both are currently available online for a lot less (see the Amazon links below).
