Paramount Streams Jackass Movies via Facebook

By Rachel Cericola

Sometimes you just need a little butt fireworks and a good bungee wedgie. For those times when you need a little Jackass on the fly, there's always Facebook.

Paramount Pictures just announced plans to start streaming the entire Jackass movie catalog through the social media website. Just "like" the Jackass Facebook page, and you can rent the collection. The studio will offer Jackass The Movie, Jackass 2, and Jackass 3, as well as digital features Jackass 2.5 and Jackass 3.5, all through the Jackass Facebook page.

Jackass The Movie, Jackass 2 and Jackass 2.5 can each be purchased for 30 Facebook Credits, which is the equivalent to $2.99. Jackass 3 and Jackass 3.5 are 40 Facebook Credits each, or $3.99. Currently, the offer is only available in the U.S., to Facebook users who are at least 17 years old.

All of the collections are available through the Rent Movies link on that Facebook page. From there, you can choose between the five movie "apps." Once a film is rented, you can view it repeatedly, pause and return later, or watch it in full-screen mode -- all for up to 48 hours.

In addition to the movies, Paramount is also launching something called the Jackass ClipApp. This allows fans to search through 100 pre-selected scenes from all five movies, create custom clips, and edit how they are linked together for a personalized highlights reel. Clips can also be shared via Facebook and on other social sites. The Jackass ClipApp is free and also limited to users in the U.S. who are at least 17 years old.

"The secret to the enduring popularity of Jackass goes beyond the jaw dropping stunts and cringe-worthy pranks, it's the true friendship that exists between each one of the Jackass members," said said Thomas Lesinski, president of Paramount Digital Entertainment. "What better way for the millions of Jackass fans to celebrate the legacy of these pioneers of social entertainment than through Facebook."

The Jackass ensemble includes Johnny Knoxville, Bam Margera, Steve-O, Chris Pontius, Ryan Dunn, Wee Man, Preston Lacy, Dave England and "Danger Ehren" McGhehey.
