OPPO Hops On Wireless Speaker Bandwagon with Sonica Wi-Fi Speaker

Welcome to the party, pal!

OPPO Digital is getting into the wireless speaker category, debuting the Sonica Wi-Fi Speaker. It's shipping now.

This compact speaker features acoustic design and tuning by Igor Levitsky, the same designer behind OPPO's PM-series planar magnetic headphones. That design promises deep, killer sound, as well as built-in presets so you can tweak the music based on the size of the room, speaker locations, and your listening preferences.

Out of the box, the Sonica includes support for Wi-Fi, AirPlay, and Bluetooth, so you can stream music however you like it. There's even a Sonica app, so you can manage multiple speakers on the same network. That app allows you to send the same song to every speaker or play different music in every corner of the house.

Another perk is that the Sonica can support High Resolution Audio files up to 24-bit / 192kHz from your mobile devices, USB drives, DLNA servers, and NAS drives. It can even deliver lossless audio formats such as FLAC, WAV, and Apple Lossless.

The unit includes two 15-watt amplifiers to drive the 3.5-inch bass woofer and two 3-inch bass radiators, as well as two additional 10-watt amps to drive a pair of 2.5-inch wideband drivers. Other features include stereo pairing options and built-in adaptive antennae with MIMO technology for a strong Wi-Fi signal. There's also an optional wall mount available.

OPPO is selling the Sonica Wi-Fi Speaker now, with an MSRP of $299. The Sonica app is also available now from the iTunes App Store and Google Play.
