MartinLogan Puts Center and Bookshelf Speakers into Motion Series

By Rachel Cericola

It looks like there's been a little motion in MartinLogan's Motion Series. The company just announced plans to expand the speaker line, by adding center and bookshelf models.

The Motion 30 center channel and Motion 15 bookshelf speakers are designed to match the company's Motion 20 and 40 floorstanding speakers. Each one has a similar appearance, with rounded edges and a gently tapered top. Also, both speakers will come in a choice of three high-gloss finishes: black, white or black cherrywood.

Of course, the new Motion models have something else that MartinLogan fans should be familiar with -- the Folded Motion tweeter, which promises clear, highly dynamic, and precise sound. Other features on the Motion 15 and 30 speakers include high-excursion, black aluminum cone woofers and low-turbulence, rear-firing, bass ports. That combination boasts quite the powerful bass performance.

The Motion 30 has two 5.5-inch drivers and is priced per speaker.

Specifically, the Motion 15 has a single 5.25-inch driver, with the Motion 30 including two 5.5-inch drivers. Both also have five-way binding posts.

MartinLogan says that the Motion 30 and Motion 15 are voice-matched to the entire Motion Series.

There's no word on when MartinLogan will start shipping the new Motion models. However, the Motion 30 center-channel speaker will be priced at $649.95, with the Motion 15 bookshelf speakers coming at $799.95 per pair.
