LG Releases Details and Pricing for 2017 OLED TVs

By Rachel Cericola

Back in January, LG Electronics was talking up the company's 2017 OLED TV lineup, which will include support for Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos. Now we just got a few other details about those TVs.

Today, LG gave us release dates and prices for six of the sets that were previewed at CES 2017. Four more sets are remaining and will be detailed at a later date.

All 10 of those TVs will include OLED technology, which promises perfect black levels, a better contrast, brighter colors, and even wider viewing angles. Another nice perk is that each of the 2017 LG OLED TVs will include Active HDR, a technology that processes the picture scene by scene, resulting in brighter imagery and greater shadow details when displaying High Dynamic Range (HDR) content.

Of course, these TVs also include support for other HDR formats, such as Dolby Vision, HDR10, and HLG (Hybrid Log Gamma). Also look for the new HDR Effect feature, which can boost standard-definition content to improve brightness, contrast, and the set's overall image.

LG's 2017 OLED TVs don't just boast a gorgeous image, but will come packing impressive sound quality -- all thanks to Dolby Atmos. This is made possible due to an included soundbar that can create audio that moves all around the room, as well as overhead.

Before the end of the month, LG will start selling the 55-inch OLED55C7P and the 65-inch OLED65W7P. These are priced at $3,499 and $7,999, respectively. The 55-incher includes LG's blade-slim design, which makes it easier to mount closer to the wall. The OLED65W7P has LG's Picture-on-Wall design that's so thin and light that the TV actually just attaches to the wall.

In March, LG will release the 65-inch OLED65E7P ($5,999), the 65-inch OLED65C7P ($4,999), and the 65-inch OLED65G7P ($6,999). The C7 model is the one with the blade-slim design, with the other two sets including a Picture-on-Glass design. These sets have the OLED module mounted right on the glass back panel, in order to create an ultra-slim appearance.

The last model that's currently scheduled is the 55-inch OLED55E7P, which is coming in May for $4,499. This set also has a super-slim form factor, with the Picture-on-Glass design.
