Klipsch Quintet 5-Channel Home Theater Speakers: $298 shipped (save 50%)

By Rachel Cericola

Last month, Klipsch announced plans to update its popular Quintet Home Theater Speaker System. The new and improved version is scheduled to start selling this month. In other words, Amazon needs to make some room in its warehouse.

Right now, Amazon is selling the old version of the Quintet for just $298. Even though it's an older model, this is a very nice five-piece speaker package. It's also a cheap one, with the discounted price coming out to about 50 percent off the set's $599.99 list price. It even includes free shipping, using Amazon's Super Saver shipping option.

That one price can also get you a full set of home theater speakers. The Quintet includes four glossy black satellite speakers and a matching center channel. It's also important to note that each speaker has Klipsch's Horn technology and the XT Micro-Tractix Horn tweeter.

Other features on the Quintet speaker set include a frequency response of 120Hz to 23kHz, power handling of 50 watts, and a crossover frequency of 3700Hz. Those numbers change to 125Hz to 23kHz, 75 watts, and 3100Hz for the center channel.

Also, it looks like this package should be pretty easy to place; each speaker has a swiveling pedestal base that doubles as a wall bracket. The center channel can also be wall mounted by fastening an optional wall bracket to its 0.25-inch-20 threaded insert.

All you need to do is add in a subwoofer to make a complete home theater setup -- maybe something like the Polk Audio PSW10 Subwoofer! This model is currently on sale, as well. The 10-inch sub is normally listed for $239.95. However, Amazon currently has it for $89.99. That means you'll not only save almost $150 off this purchase, but you can score a full 5.1 speaker setup for under $400.

Just remember to place your order with Amazon -- and not one of the retailer's third-party merchants. Amazon is offering the discounted prices, as well as free Super Saver shipping. There's no word on how long either deal will last, so you'd better snag your speaker set before the retailer runs out of stock!
