Killer Home Theater Deals: Denon 5.1 AV Receiver for $197.86 (AVR391)

By Rachel Cericola

'Tis the season to look and sound awesome! We're not talking about your party persona, but everything in your A/V setup could get a nice boost. That would come from the Denon AVR-391 Receiver, which can handle all of today's HD codecs, such as Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD Master Audio, as well as 3D content.

Considering everything that this receiver can do, this is one special price. Both OneCall and Amazon are offering the AVR-391 receiver at under $200 delivered. Take a peek at both offers here:

The AVR-391 is rated for a total of 375 watts, and includes Minimum Signal Path technology, and Compressed Audio Restorer for digital music files. The receiver also comes with its own remote, which has dedicated buttons for iPod control with the optional Denon iPod dock.

Also, as mentioned, this one decodes all the HD codecs, including Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio. There's even love for Dolby Pro Logic IIz. It also supports HDMI passthrough with four HDMI 1.4a inputs for 3D passthrough.

Please note: The one feature missing on this receiver is analog video-to-HDMI digital upconversion. That means if you have older analog sources (like a VCR) hooked via HDMI, this may not be the receiver for you. That said, it can handle your Blu-ray player, cable box, PlayStation 3, and all sorts of other fun goodies. If that describes your setup, you cannot go wrong with the price of this HDMI-capable receiver; it is a killer deal.
