KEF to Show New Ci In-Wall, In-Ceiling Speakers at CEDIA 2012

By Rachel Cericola

The 2012 CEDIA Expo is just weeks away. From September 6 to 8, companies will converge in Indianapolis, Indiana, for a peek at new and upcoming products. KEF plans to be there, sporting its Custom Installation (Ci) Series of loudspeakers.

The Ci Series includes both in-wall and in-ceiling models. We've mentioned them before. However, the company is promising that show attendees will see a little something for every application, including round, square and rectangle models.

KEF recently introduced the square and rectangle models, making it easier to fit those slots where round just won't do. Of course, they have those, too.

Other Ci features include super-thin bezels and magnetic grilles, as well as special grille treatments. The latter means that these speakers can withstand some of those moist environments, such as bathrooms, patios, and even on boats.

Select Ci models also have KEF's own Uni-Q driver array, which puts the tweet right in the acoustic center of the woofer. That combination becomes a single, focused force, boasting wider sound evenly throughout the room. The Ci Series also has KEF's tangerine waveguide, with some models adding in the asymmetrical tweeter island.

All Ci Series models feature forward-woofer mounting, which promises the same performance from just about any angle.

"For over 50 years, KEF has had an unequaled reputation in developing high performance loudspeakers and now we are able to offer that same attention to design into our complete line of custom installation products," said Alec Chanin, president of KEF America. "As attendees to CEDIA Expo will see, our custom installation loudspeakers offer features such as ultra-thin bezels and our unique driver arrays to provide a home entertainment solution every homeowner will appreciate."
