JVC Debuts 50-inch 1080p BlackCrystal E-LED HDTV

By Rachel Cericola

Today's HDTVs have a mind-blowing amount of features. Some have 3D, some have web streaming, and some are even packing multiple speakers into that slim bezel. However, JVC is taking a different approach with its latest release.

JVC just announced the 50-inch R Series BC50R BlackCrystal E-LED HDTV. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles that you might find in a lot of today's HDTVs. Now that we told you what the BC50R doesn't have, let's concentrate on the goodies you'll get with this set.

This 50-incher the latest in JVC's existing BlackCrystal LCD and E-LED line. However, until now, that series only had sizes ranging from 32 to 47 inches. So, this is a nice little bump up in screen size, with a new super-thin bezel design.

Out of the box, the BC50R has a full 1080p HD image, which is really the main focus -- and will be your main focus, obviously. It also has a powered edge-lit LED screen, 120Hz CrystalMotion video processing, and JVC's XinemaSound 3D post-processing audio technology. The latter is sort of interesting, promising the same type of output you'd get from a soundbar, but packed into this set.

Other features include Clear Dialog processing, 178-degree viewing angles, and an Ambient Light Sensor. JVC has also designed this 50-inch unit to be the focal point of your home theater system, adding two HDMI inputs, Audio Channel Return, and one USB input.

"Today's television is, by and large, bifurcated into two distinct classes: the upper end, which boast superior picture quality and enhanced smart streaming connectivity; and the value-oriented end, which lacks both," said Drew Pragliola, AmTran Video's VP of sales and marketing. "With the BlackCrystal line, we're offering consumers a middle alternative -- stunning video and audio performance, but without the built-in apps and media streaming that is redundant in many consumers' AV systems. And with the addition of the BC50R, we're delivering it all at a new large screen size, with a gorgeous new ultra-slim, narrow-bezel design to boot."

JVC expects the BC50R to ship sometime this month, with an MSRP of $799.

If you're looking to score one of these sets for a little less, the company has just kicked off a monthly BC50R giveaway for its Facebook and Twitter followers. Check out the JVC TV Facebook page or the company's Twitter account for more information on this promotion.
