HDTV Clearance Sale: Huge Discounts on 60-inch and 65-inch LED, Plasma TVs (Panasonic, Samsung, Sony)

By Rachel Cericola

Sports, movies, and even that daily dose of reality television have some larger than life details that you won't want to miss. If you're still watching all of that on a teeny TV, you could be missing out on a lot of good stuff. Fortunately, now is a very good time for an upgrade.

Amazon is having a clearance sale, offering discounts on nine different HDTVs. All of the eligible models are good ones. Even better, they're big ones, with sizes ranging from 60 to 65 inches.

Although the sizes are limited (in a good way), there are plenty of other options to choose from, including the brand. We found models from Sony, Panasonic and Samsung, with options for 1080p, 3D, built-in WiFi, web-based entertainment, and much more. Check out all of the available discounted models on Amazon's main sale page:

Panasonic's 65-inch TC-P65VT30 3D Plasma placed very high in the annual Value Electronics shootout.

One of the available models is Panasonic's 65-inch TC-P65VT30 1080p 3D Plasma HDTV. This model is available now for $3099.98, which is about $900 off the list price. That cost also includes free shipping!

Besides a 1080p image, the TC-P65VT30 is an active 3D TV, which means you can enjoy that same 1080p image to each eye, in 3D. It even comes with a pair of 3D glasses, so you can enjoy 3D right out of the box. Other features include THX 3D certification, Panasonic's Infinite Black Pro 2 panel, 600Hz sub-field motion drive technology, three USB ports, and four HDMI inputs. It also has VIERA Connect, which can deliver a wealth of web-based entertainment right through the remote.

This is a very nice HDTV at a very nice price. In fact, it placed second during the annual Value Electronics HDTV shootout -- but only to a much more expensive model. Find out more about the TC-P65VT30 on Amazon's product page:

Samsung-UN65D8000_1.jpg
Samsung's 65-inch UN65D8000 3D LED comes packaged with two pairs of 3D glasses.

If you'd prefer LED, another nice option is Samsung's 65-inch UN65D8000 1080p 3D LED HDTV. This is also an active 3D TV, which offers 1080p in both 2D and 3D. The current sale price is $3974.58, which is about $1400 off the list price. That cost also includes two pairs of 3D glasses. Just add a Blu-ray 3D player and you've got a complete 3D home theater package!

However, it's also a great 2D TV, offering built-in Wi-Fi, Real 240Hz refresh rate technology, Ultra Clear Panel, DLNA support, ConnectShare Movie, and four HDMI inputs. It also includes Samsung's Smart TV platform, which allows users to search for content across the TV, the web, apps, and more. Some of those apps include Netflix, Blockbuster, Hulu Plus, Explore 3D TV, YouTube, ESPN, Pandora, Facebook, Twitter, and more. Those options, as well as a full web browser, are easy to navigate via the included Qwerty Remote. Find about more about this model on the UN65D8000's product page:

All nine of the HDTVs in this sale include free shipping, but make sure that you are ordering directly from Amazon -- and not one of the retailer's third-party merchants. They are the ones offering this sale, the free shipping and the option for free 30-day returns. Oh, and if you're worried that these prices aren't the lowest you'll find, Amazon is willing to back that up as well. The retailer's TV Low Price Guarantee is in effect, so if you find this set for less within 14 days of the ship date, Amazon will refund the difference.
