DISH Now Does House Calls... to Fix Your Broken iPhone Screen?

By Rachel Cericola

Over the years, we've seen a lot of TV providers branch out to services that go beyond the typical channel lineup. Some offer phone service and streaming entertainment, while others have ways to keep your home safe from prowlers. However, DISH Network has come up with a new way to generate revenue -- and it's something that a lot of people will appreciate.

The company just announced plans to offer Smart Phone Repair to customers nationwide. More specifically, it's iPhone repair -- and the service will be available to everyone, whether you're a DISH customer or not.

So next time you crack that screen or have power problems, you can contact DISH and the company will send a technician to your home, office, gym, or wherever else you want them. Currently, it's available in all 50 states, but only to customers with an iPhone 5, 5c, 5s, 6, and/or 6 Plus. DISH plans to add other devices and accessories to the service in the coming months. However, there's currently no timeline on that expansion.

Appointments are made through DISH's My Tech online tool. You'll also need to pay a one-time $35 "Drive to Me" travel fee for the visit. That same portal will also give you the technician's name, photo, and a countdown to the tech's arrival.

According to DISH, repair prices are consistent across the country and come with a 60-day guarantee. To replace an iPhone screen, you can expect to pay $134.99 to $184.99, depending on the model. Battery upgrades are $74.99 across the board. The company also has package deals for the screen and battery, ranging from $174.98 to $224.98.

"Fixing your phone shouldn't mean losing your phone for days on end, so we come to you -- whether you're at the office, the gym, or even the coffee shop," said John Swieringa, executive vice president of operations. "DISH is uniquely positioned with the technical know-how and ability to respond to a customer's needs in every state across the country."

DISH is currently offering Smart Phone Repair seven days a week, which does includes same-day and next-day availability.
