Cyber Monday Deals: Sony Streaming Blu-ray Player with Wi-Fi: $49.99 (BDPS3200)

By Chris Boylan

While many may say that physical media like DVDs and Blu-ray Disc are going the way of the Dodo bird, the fact is that Blu-ray Disc is still the best way to watch a movie at home on your HDTV. Full HD 1080p resolution and lossless multi-channel surround sound are available to you just by sliding the disc in and hitting the Play button. You never have to wait for a Blu-ray Disc to buffer or suffer through lower audio and video quality when your internet connection decides to take a dump.

But there's no denying the convenience and selection of streaming services such as Netflix, VUDU and Amazon Instant Video. Fortunately you can have it all: many Blu-ray Players also include access to these streaming services. And the good ones include wireless networking (Wi-Fi) so you won't have to worry about running a network cable to your player.

This Cyber Monday, Amazon is offering just such a player -- Sony's BDPS3200 Streaming Blu-ray Player with WiFi -- for just $49.99 ($70 below list). Here's the link:

This player does almost everything: over 200 streaming services including all the popular ones (YouTube, Netflix, Vudu, Amazon, etc.), 1080p playback of Blu-ray Discs with support for all the lossless audio codecs (Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD Master Audio). Sony players are also format-friendly for playback of your own videos in formats such as AVI or MKV, just by attaching a USB hard drive or thumb drive.

Sony's BDPS3200 (pictured) and BDPS5200 each support 1080p Blu-ray playback as well as over 200 streaming services, with built-in wireless networking. But you might not want to set your drink on top of them.

About the only thing that this player does not support is 3D Blu-ray playback. But fear not, 3D-fans! Amazon also has its big brother, the BDPS5200 (which does support Blu-ray 3D) for only $10 more ($59.99), which is $80 below list price:

Free shipping is available on both players. Stock may not last the day so if you want one, you should probably not delay.
