CES: Perfect Path Has a Lock on the Locking Cable Market

By Dennis Burger

We've all dealt with the problem of ill-fitting cable connections -- subwoofer cables that fit so loosely they buzz or come loose at random times; component video cables that grip so tightly you're sure you'll rip the back panel off of your receiver if you ever attempt to replace them.

Perfect Path's new PerfectLock Locking RCA Cables, introduced at this year's Consumer Electronics Show, may be the, ahem, perfect solution to both of these problems.

The way the PerfectLock locking mechanism works is simple: twist the cable clockwise and an innovative wedge mechanism inside causes the outer ground shield to lock onto the cable port, creating a tight bond. A quick twist in the opposite direction releases the grip for easy disconnect.

Component video, stereo audio, and digital coax/composite video configurations are available, all of which are made with all-brass components, with in-wall CL rated outer jackets, in lengths from four to 16 feet.
