Black Friday Receiver Deal: Yamaha RX-V681BL A/V Receiver with Dolby Atmos, DTS:X - $299.99 (Save $150)

By Chris Boylan

Black Friday is tomorrow, but this deal on a Yamaha A/V receiver is available today. It's Yamaha's RX-V681BL A/V receiver and it's on sale for $299.99 with free shipping. The receiver supports 4K Ultra HD passthrough with HDCP 2.2 support. And, most importantly, it does both of the new immersive surround sound formats - Dolby Atmos and DTS:X - right out of the box.

Here's the link:

At 80 Watts/Channel, with seven channels, the RX-V681 is capable of filling a medium to large room with sound. You can configure it to do standard 7.1 channel surround or assign two of those to height channels to do a 5.1.2 Dolby Atmos or DTS:X immersive surround sound system. The unit also offers Yamaha's Music Cast Wireless Multiroom Audio system in case you want to synchronize music all over your home. And if you're interested in connecting to your mobile device, music streaming apps or your own local digital music files on your home network, the unit supports a number of wired and wireless connections including Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and wired Ethernet. It also includes support for Apple Airplay, Spotify Connect, Pandora, Rhapsody, SiriusXM Internet radio and vTuner.

With 5 HDMI inputs, it should support all of your modern video sources. But the V681 also respects the past with composite and component video inputs as well as a dedicated phono input for your turntable (something that isn't that easy to find these days). As far as 4K video, the unit offers full 4K Ultra HD support with HDR and BT.2020 passthrough thanks to its HDCP 2.2 compatibility.
