Bang & Olufsen Adds Google Cast to B&O Play Wireless Speakers

By Rachel Cericola

Need another way to get music into your life? Bang & Olufsen is ready to deliver. The company just made Google Cast available to the B&O Play speaker lineup.

The plan to bring Google Cast to the company's collection was first announced back in January 2016. Now, B&O is making this music perk available in the compact BeoPlay A6 and the funky, floor-standing, second-generation BeoPlay A9 via an automatic firmware update. It will also be a standard feature in all B&O Play network speakers going forward.

Google Cast allows you to "cast" all sorts of music services straight to your speakers. Just tap the CAST button in your favorite mobile app and start streaming. It's currently an option on services like Spotify, Deezer, and TuneIn. Just know that service subscriptions and/or fees may apply.

In addition to Google Cast, all B&O Play network speakers include support for Apple AirPlay and Bluetooth.

"Connecting your music seamlessly to your speaker has always been key to B&O Play. With Google Cast, you can enjoy music directly from the cloud instead of playing music from your device, which gives premium audio quality and ensures that incoming calls or texts are not disrupting the music," says Henrik Taudorf Lorensen, corporate VP of B&O Play. "We believe that freedom of choice in streaming technologies is increasingly important to consumers, so we are proud to bring Google Cast to our network speakers."

Both the BeoPlay A6 and the BeoPlay A9 are selling now, priced at $999 and $2,699, respectively.
