Aperion Audio Goes High-end With Verus Grand Speakers

By Rachel Cericola

Aperion Audio wants to rock your socks off once again. The direct-to-consumer company is out at Denver's Rocky Mountain Audio Fest this weekend to debut its new Aperion Verus Grand speaker line.

The line includes the Verus Grand Tower ($1798 per pair), the Verus Grand Center ($699 each), and the Verus Grand Bookshelf ($598 per pair).

Features on the 3-way tower include in two 5-inch woven Kevlar mid-range drivers, two 6-inch woven Kevlar woofers, a frequency response of 45-20,000 Hz (+/- 3 dB), and power handling of 20 to 300 watts. The bookshelf model has one 5-inch mid-range driver, a 1-inch tweeter, and a frequency response of 59-20,000 (+/- 3 dB). Last, but not least, the 3-way center channel packs in one 1-inch tweeter, a 4-inch mid-range driver and two 6-inch woofers. The frequency response on that is rated at 50-20,000 Hz (+/- 3 dB).

Designed with authentic sound reproduction in mind, all of the Verus Grand models have a unique patent-pending tweeter.

"Our team built the entire speaker system from the bottom up, engineering each component for maximum sonic impact while keeping the cost in reach of most home theater audio buffs," says Ken Humphreys, Aperion's lead speaker engineer. "A key part of the solution is our new Axially Stabilized Radiator tweeter, which takes the burden of reproducing upper-mid frequencies off the mid-range driver. That allows each driver to do the job it does best. The result is wider dispersion for an expanded soundstage and lower distortion to boost clarity."

If you're looking to make a complete 5.1 setup out of the line, the company suggests adding its 8-inch Aperion Bravus 100-watt subwoofer. All of the curvy cabinets come in either gloss cherry-wood veneer or piano-black lacquer.
