There are plenty of speaker sets with some type of wireless piece. Whether it's wireless rear speakers or a wireless subwoofer, it's nice to have that flexibility when it comes to placement. Aperion Audio thinks so too, so they decided to go wireless with the whole darn thing.
The newly announced Intimus 4T Summit Wireless Home Theater Speaker System promises to take wireless to a whole new level. This entire speaker setup ditches the wires and opts for Summit Wireless' SpeakerFinder and MyZone technology instead.
Aperion also says you don't need a receiver with this setup. Instead, the system connects all of your sources (Blu-ray player, set-top box, etc.) to the included HDMI Home Theater One transmitter. From there, you just need to plug each speaker into an available outlet, press one button to configure the whole thing, and you should be ready to rock -- literally.
That SpeakerFinder technology can figure out where you placed each speaker and gets all of the components communicating. When one speaker chirps its ultrasonic transducer, the others listen and report back. Aperion says that the system then calculates the angle and distance between each speaker within +/- 1 inch. The whole thing should take about 10 seconds.
MyZone then calibrates each speaker channel for volume level and phase delay based on the listener's location in the room, via the included remote. It's instant audio sweet spot optimization at the touch of a button!
Besides 24-Bit/96 KHz wireless digital audio, the system also promises support for Dolby True HD, Dolby Digital Plus and DTS-HD formats.
"We have had customers asking for this for a long time, and there just wasn't a reliable technology solution before Summit's," said Ed de la Fuente, Aperion's VP of marketing. "This goes way beyond eliminating speaker wires by providing superior audio fidelity and instant optimization that most people probably didn't know was possible. We're thrilled that this system recently moved from the beta stage into fully certified production."
The Intimus 4T Summit Wireless Home Theater Speaker System is available now, directly from Aperion Audio. A complete 5.1 speaker package with the HDMI Digital Wireless Home Theater One Preamp Transmitter has an MSRP of $2999, with a 7.1 system priced at $3499.
