These Are a Few of Our Favorite Black Friday/Cyber Monday Deals for 2016 (TVs, Speakers and More)

By Chris Boylan

Black Friday has come and gone but Cyber Monday 2016 is upon us and there's no shortage of deals on TVs, speakers, video game consoles and more. But it's easy to get caught up in the low price wars without considering the quality of what's being offered. At BPBS, we like to look for great deals on gear we would actually own or recommend to a friend or family member.

With that in mind, here are a few of our favorite Deals on A/V gear for Blkack Friday and Cyber Monday 2016.

Amazon Echo, Echo Dot and Tap Voice Controlled Wireless Speakers - $10 to $40 Off

There's something really satisfying about being able to ask your own personal digital assistant to play your favorite internet radio station or playlist, brief you on the local news, sports scores or weather, or adjust your home lighting, the heating or Air Conditioning. And while Amazon's Alexa-based voice controlled speakers can't do everything right out of the box, their integration with multiple third party smart home integration platforms gives them a huge leg up on the competition. Whether it's a WeMo switch, Philips Hue light bulbs or your Nest thermostat (among other things), Alexa can control it for you.

Amazon is offering big discounts on all three of their Alexa-based voice controlled speakers for Black Friday weekend and into Cyber Monday. The new improved Echo Dot is $39.99 ($10 off), the Tap is $89.99 ($40 off) and the Echo is $139.99 ($40 off). You can find out more about these deals and the differences between the three speakers here:

KEF LS50 Speakers - $300 Off - CURRENTLY OUT OF STOCK

British speaker maker KEF is known for their high-end audiophile-quality speakers. Their top of the line model (the Muon) sells for close to $200,000 a pair. And the advanced R&D from these statement pieces trickles down into much more affordable models. Perhaps the best example of this is their LS50 mini-monitor. Its Uni-Q drivers and advanced cabinet design borrow much from their more expensive brethren. At $1499/pair they're still not what many would consider "cheap," but they offer amazing performance for the price. And with Amazon knocking another $300 of the price for Black Friday weekend, they're hard to resist. Find out more here:

Sonos Play:1 Wireless Speaker - $50 Off

As much as we love the KEF LS50s, they're not practical for all purposes, and they're still outside the budget of many burgeoning audiophiles and music lovers. If you're looking for something more affordable that still offers decent sound and can access any of your digital music or streaming services directly from an easy to use app, then you'll want to check out Sonos. Sonos offers a whole home wireless music streaming platform that allows you to listen to your music anywhere in your home using your existing wireless network. And this weekend you can get their entry level speaker the Play:1 for a 25% lower price tag: $149 instead of the regular $199 price. Find out more here:

VIZIO P65-C1 65-inch P Series UHD TV with Dolby Vision HDR for $1799.99

As far as TV deals go, we'd be remiss not to mention one of the most highly rated UHD displays of the season, which also happens to be on sale this weekend. VIZIO's P65-C1 4K Ultra HD Display offers a full array LED backlight for outstanding black level and brightness. It also includes support for Dolby Vision HDR (High Dynamic Range) as well as an extended color gamut for great reproduction of next generation sources like Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc. VIZIO kept costs down by removing the built-in tuner (which few people use any more) and also by moving the Smart TV streaming platform to the cloud. The display comes with its own dedicated Android tablet as the remote control. This allows you to search for shows and movie on apps like Netflix, YouTube and VUDU right on the tablet, and stream them directly to the TV for display. You can find out more here:

LG B6 Series Ultra HD OLED TV with Dolby Vision HDR Price Drop

As much as we like a good high performance LED/LCD TV, there's nothing like the black level reproduction of an OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) set. The successor to plasma TVs in terms of black level performance, the picture of a 4K-capable Ultra HD OLED is simply jaw-dropping. But without much competition in the OLED TV space (read: no competition in the OLED TV space), the price tag of LG's OLED sets has been just outside the realm of affordability to many TV buyers. LG and Amazon are bringing the cost of admission down a bit for Black Friday weekend though. After a recent price cut on the B6 Model by LG, Amazon is chopping another $200 off the cost and is offering free enhanced "white glove" delivery on both the 55-inch and 65-inch models. $87.50 Off XBox One S or Sony PS4 Bundles with Games ($212.49 for either)

Those bringing home next generation gaming consoles for the holidays will be encouraged by the new lower price on the XBox One S and Sony PS4. And for Cyber Monday, you can score either console with a game and controller for the lowest price of the year: $212.49 for either bundle. This is subject to availability and stock on hand. Either console offers advanced graphics and game play as well as 4K-compatible output if you happen to have a 4K Ultra HD TV. As an A/V source, the XBox One S may be a better choice as it offers playback of 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Discs (with HDR support) where the Sony PS4 oddly lacks such support.

Pioneer Andrew Jones-Designed Speakers at Steep Discounts

After legendary speaker designer Andrew Jones showed what he could do with ultra high-end $80,000 speakers for TAD, he teamed up with Pioneer to show what was possible for a much more affordable price. And now you can pick up those already affordable speakers for even less, thanks to Amazon's one-day Cyber Monday deal on select Andrew Jones-designed speaker models. While stock lasts you can pick up a full 5.1-channel surround speaker system for $349.99 or mix and match and build your own custom system.
