We've been seeing some great deals on OLED TVs lately. Ready for another? LG Electronics just announced plans to cut prices on one popular 4K OLED TV series---but only for a limited time.
The company just started discounting the EG9600 Art Slim Curved OLED 4K TV series. Available in 55- and 65-inch screen sizes, this model features a 4K image in a super-slim, curved design. Having that curved screen means that the TV can "wrap you up" in the image for a more immersive viewing experience.
And since it's an OLED TV, the EG9600 includes self-lighting pixels that can automatically switch on and off individually to produce brighter colors and deeper blacks. It also has LG's 4-Color Pixel technology, which adds a white sub-pixel into the red/green/blue scheme, as well as a 4K upscaler, 3D support, Harman/Kardon sound, and the new webOS 2.0 smart TV platform.
Until recently, LG had priced the 65-inch 65EG9600 at $8,999. However, the company is knocking $2,000 off that, to bring the price down to $6,999. The 55-inch 55EG9600 is also on sale for $4,999, which is $500 off the regular retail price.
If the low price doesn't provide enough bragging rights, make sure to let friends, family and everyone else know that your new purchase took home the top honors at the 2015 Value Electronics TV Shootout. Our own Chris Boylan attended this year's event and said, " While the OLED set did have some issues with absolute color accuracy (which was only visible on select content, and was apparently not noticed by many voters), motion clarity and image uniformity (again, only with certain content), its deep inky black levels, excellent perceived contrast and outstanding off-axis performance gave it the edge in overall picture quality over the LED/LCD sets." However, Value Electronics isn't the only company singing this TV model's praises. It was recently named a "Netflix Recommended TV." That basically means that the EG9600 went through the streaming service's evaluation process to make sure it can deliver the best Netflix experience possible. The process looks at how fast the TV turns on, how fast it can launch the Netflix app, how fast it resumes video playback, and much more.
According to LG, these prices will only be offered for a limited time---but we're not sure how "limited" they will be. You'd better snag one now before they run out of stock or go back up in price!
